In order to prevent shopping cart abandonment, the solution aims to improve the online shopping experience while taking human aspects into account. This is achieved by creating a user experience that lowers delivery costs, which are the main causes of shopping cart abandonment

Online customer behaviour is increasingly transforming the way people all over the world conduct business. If the buying experience begins to change to become digital-first, online retailers find it necessary to establish delivery strategies to accommodate the demand of consumers without breaking the bank.
Abandonment is an e-commerce term used on a web page to identify a visitor who leaves the page before the purchase is made. The predominant abandonment is the abandonment of the shopping cart, relating to customers who add items to their online shopping cart but leave without finishing the order. The primary contributor factor to cart abandonment is high shipping costs.

WooCommerce Distance Rate Shipping - Distance
The WooCommerce Distance Rate Shipping extension offers shipping rates based on the distance or total travel time to a customer. Rules can be set up to charge based on the distance, total travel time as well as charging extra based on the total cart value, total weight of the products in the cart and the number of items in the cart.
Easyship - Surcharges Costs
To avoid overpaying shipping surcharges, it is important that customers have a clear understanding of what shipping surcharges are. Some solutions include third-party couriers such as Easyship.
Ernest Packaging solutions - Packaging Costs
Implementation of new equipment in the manufacturing process is a significant step forward. It has the ability to make the company more effective, to maximise the amount of packaging time and to reduce the amount of waste generated.
User flows
By creating user flows, there was a clear understanding of how the user would access the application and engage with the functionality in place of adding the extension where they will be able to adjust and customise the size of their packaging based on the item.
Low-fidelity wireframes
Creating low-fidelity wireframes gave an idea of the placement of the components within the application and a rough idea of how the custom-sized packaging functionality will work.
The final outcome
Taking into consideration all of the research and analysis that had been carried out, the solution aims to enhance the overall shopping experience by offering users an opportunity to tailor their packaging according to the size of the item. Additionally, it seeks to reduce the amount of shopping cart abandonment.
The extension is intended for e-commerce applications. The user is asked if they want to add the Custom-sized packaging extension to the Oneque platform.
The user is able to customise the size of the packaging at this stage simply by dragging the box to fit the item. They can then proceed to checkout and have full visibility of the amount of money they have saved.
